Installing GlobalSight consists of downloading and installing the third-party software needed and then the GlobalSight core application.

You can also install GlobalSight Desktop Icon, if needed.

Downloading GlobalSight software packages

The first step is to download the software for your operating system - Windows or Ubuntu.

To download the code:

  1. Go to the GlobalSight page on Sourceforge
  2. Select the zip file for your operating system. For example GlobalSight_Software_Package_Windows_8.6.7.zip
  3. Unzip the file

Unzipping the file creates the following directories:

  1. 3rd_party_software
  2. 64_bit_3rd_party_software
  3. Aligner (for Windows only)
  4. Converters
  5. DesktopIcon
  6. GlobalSight

You can download our latest code as described on GlobalSight.com.

Downloading Additional Applications

You can also download additional optional software for use with GlobalSight. For example, GlobalSight Desktop Icon, Web Service Test Tool, Adobe InDesign CS3/CS4/CS5/CS5.5 Converter, Microsoft Office 2003/2007 Converter and so on.

Installing GlobalSight

Install the components in the correct order once you have downloaded the software.

Order Component Contents Instructions
1. Third-party software MySQL, JDK, JRE and so on Windows | Ubuntu
2. GlobalSight Core GlobalSight application Windows | Ubuntu
3. GlobalSight Desktop Icon Optional add-on application used by Project Managers Windows, Linux and Mac | Ubuntu Desktop and CentOS

You can also run GlobalSight behind a reverse proxy using Apache.
