Installing GlobalSight consists of downloading and installing the third-party software needed and then the GlobalSight core.
You can also install Desktop Icon, if needed.
Downloading GlobalSight
The first step is to download the software for your operating system - Windows or Ubuntu.
You can download for free from either of two places:
- GlobalSight.com:
- Register for free by clicking Create an account on the main GlobalSight page and log in
- Click Open-Source Software->Source Code
- Select the zip file for your operating system. For example GlobalSight_Software_Package_Windows_8.5.1.zip
- Register for free by clicking Create an account on the main GlobalSight page and log in
- GlobalSight on Sourceforge
Unzipping the file creates the following directories:
- 3rd_party_software
- 64_bit_3rd_party_software (for Windows only)
- Aligner
- Converters
- DesktopIcon
- GlobalSight
Downloading Additional Applications
You can also download additional optional software for use with GlobalSight. For example Desktop Icon, API Test Tool, RTF Converter and so on.
To download additional software:
- Open GlobalSight.com
- Click Open-Source Software->Additional Software
- Click Additional Applications
Installing GlobalSight
Install the components the correct order once you have downloaded the software.

You can also run GlobalSight behind a reverse proxy using Apache.
