Alex, the easiest is to simply save these files as docx and use the Office 2010 filter. This works fine regardless of the document being created by 2007 or 2010. Since docx does not require an external converter (unlike doc) the room for error is much smaller.

If you want to use doc, you will have to install the MS Word doc converter. You only need it once, a doc is a doc regardless of the Office version that was used to create it.
